The pace adapts: with children it's shorter and told differently, and with reduced mobility we swap the route for one without steps.
No tour goes inside the cathedral: the interior visit has its own ticket and its own hours, and we'll tell you how to get one without queueing. We'd rather say so here than have someone find out at the door.
Beside the fountain, on the square side, not at the side door where the tour crowds go. We get there fifteen minutes early carrying a red cloth folder with the name written by hand: that's the only thing to look for, there are no umbrellas and no flags.
We leave on the dot. If you're late, send a message and we'll tell you where we are: the first stop is a three-minute walk away and you can nearly always catch up.
The language is written on every departure because it's what people ask about most. If you don't see yours, write to us: French and Portuguese can be arranged with a week's notice.
In July and August the 5 pm departure moves to 7 pm: walking at five in the afternoon in forty degrees isn't a tour, it's a penance. Private tours run at any time, including on days with no public departure.

For groups of more than 15 we work with another guide and there are two of us: it's stated in the quote and it changes the price.
Cancelling is free and appreciated: a released place is a place someone else can take. On fixed-price tours, cancel more than 24 hours ahead and you get everything back; with less, we'll change the date but not refund, because the tickets are already bought. Under-12s don't pay on any tour.

My name is Marta and I've been guiding in this city for eleven years. I studied Art History, worked five years in a museum in London and came back because I missed understanding the street I was walking down.
I guide in Spanish and English, and I've built the routes back to front from the way they're usually built: instead of a list of monuments, a question. Why the city is where it is, why three religions fitted into the same neighbourhood, why the streets are this narrow. The monuments turn up on their own when they're needed for an answer.

It's on the map on this very page, and in the confirmation message we send you a photo of the exact spot, because "at the cathedral" isn't an address when the cathedral has five doors. Note: the night tour does NOT leave from there, it leaves from the bridge viewpoint.
It goes ahead, with umbrellas and two extra stops under cover. We only cancel under an orange or red weather warning, and then we message on WhatsApp as soon as we know and refund anything paid. A rainy walk through these streets, with everyone indoors, is one of the good ones.
Yes, and under-12s don't pay. The two-hour route starts to drag for them after an hour and a quarter, so if small children are coming, say so when booking: we shorten a stop or two and swap in different stories. For families, the private tour is a better idea: an hour and a half at their own pace.
The public route has three flights of steps and a fair bit of hill: we don't recommend it with a wheelchair or with very limited mobility. What we do have is an alternative step-free route, with the same stops reached another way and using the public lifts: it runs as a private tour and costs the same. Say so when you write and we'll set it up.
No. No public tour goes inside the cathedral: it has its own ticket, its own hours and its own rules, and taking twelve people in would change the price of the tour. What we do is tell you how to get a ticket without queueing, what time it's quietest and what to look at when you're in. The three cultures tour does include entry to two other monuments.
Just tell us; it's fine and it costs nothing. A thirty-second message frees up a place someone is asking for that same morning. All we ask is that you don't simply not turn up: when three out of twelve are missing, the group is half empty and it's too late to offer those places to anyone.
